Vanessa Cuartas: Equine Artist
Chances are, you may not have heard of Vanessa Cuartas… yet. She’s an incredibly talented up-and-coming equine artist among the GTA and she captures the enchanting beauty and charm of horses in her work.
Painting mostly in acrylics, using bold colours, and powerful moving subjects, Vanessa is working on refining her own personal style and Toronto gets to reap the benefits. The equine subjects in Vanessa’s paintings feel powerful and dominant, yet also whimsical and mysterious – especially in her latest “Dreams” collection. Vanessa’s vivid use of colour in her artwork is exciting and adventurous; and is one of the reasons why I admire her artwork so greatly.
I asked Vanessa to shed some light on why she’s so passionate about painting her equine subjects and her response was simple and perhaps something that we can all relate to.
"Painting horses reminds [me] of the freedom and energy I felt to be around or riding them. Painting these horses also allows [me] to be close to [my] father, always, by sharing that passion for them."
Vanessa’s passion is reflected in each piece she creates. She uses photography for most of her inspiration in her collections, but she also paints beautiful custom equine portraits as well – a perfect gift idea for any horse-lover.
Vanessa’s artwork can soon be seen in person and online at Red Scarf Equestrian, a premiere equestrian lifestyle store and gallery.
